About my services
Everything a growing UK business needs: statutory accounts filing, corporation tax return, VAT returns (quarterly), self-assessment tax return, payroll, confirmation statement submission, and P11Ds.
I work with limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships. The monthly accountancy service covers all entity types. If you're not yet registered, I can advise on the best structure for your situation.
I primarily work with Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage and FreeAgent, all MTD-compliant. If you're already using one of these, great. If not, I'll help you migrate. I also use Excel for financial modelling and valuation work.
You fill in a short form telling me about your business. I review your situation and come back within 12 hours with honest, practical observations about your finances — what looks good, what could be improved, and whether any of my services would genuinely help. No obligation.
Working with me
Most accountants surface once a year, file the paperwork, and disappear. I work with you month by month. With a commercial background, I think about your numbers in terms of what they mean for your business — not just what HMRC needs to see. Fixed fees mean no hourly billing surprises, and everything is communicated in plain English.
Absolutely. Everything is done digitally — cloud accounting, video calls, secure document sharing. I respond to emails within 12 hours. Most clients find remote working faster and more convenient than in-person meetings.
I handle the entire process. I contact your existing accountant via professional clearance, transfer your records, and get everything set up on cloud accounting. Most switches are completed within 2–3 weeks with zero disruption to your business. See the full switching process →
Pricing & payments
Hourly billing punishes you when things get complicated — exactly when you need the most help. With fixed fees, you always know what you're paying. No clock-watching on calls, no invoice anxiety. It also aligns incentives: your accountant is motivated to be efficient, not to drag things out.
No. The price quoted is the price you pay. The only addition would be your software subscription fee (e.g. Xero at £15–£36/month, Sage, or FreeAgent). I'll always tell you about any costs before you commit.
Control Plan, Compass Plan and business valuations are all available as standalone projects. You don't need to be a Compliant Plan client. Get in touch and I'll scope the project for you.
Qualifications & compliance
I'm Huw Davies, a licensed accountant with over nine years of experience in both industry and practice. My practice is licensed and regulated, subject to professional standards, ethics requirements, and continuing professional development.
Yes. Finstem is a Licensed Accountancy Practice, supervised for anti-money laundering compliance. I hold professional indemnity insurance and am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for data protection.
