Rates are for the 2026/27 tax year. Enter the salary and the dividends received, and the calculator shows the tax on each and the take-home figure.
2026/27 rates. Dividend allowance £500. Dividend tax 10.75% within the basic rate band, 35.75% in the higher rate band, 39.35% above. Personal allowance £12,570, tapering above £100,000. Dividends are treated as the top slice of income. National Insurance is calculated on employment income only — if you are entering rental or pension income, ignore the NI line. An estimate, not advice.
What the calculator does
It treats dividends as the top slice of income, applies the personal allowance and the dividend allowance first, and taxes the rest through the bands. Income Tax and employee National Insurance on the salary are shown so the take-home figure is complete.
What it leaves out
Other income, pension contributions and anything else that changes the personal allowance. If the figure entered as salary is rental or pension income, ignore the National Insurance line.
Finstem prepares the directors’ self-assessment returns alongside the company accounts, so salary and dividends are reported once and early.
